Ø      A difficulty in maintaining and developing personal relationships- 60,

Ø      Preoccupied with thoughts of the child that I could have had- 81 %,

Ø      My feelings about my abortion became worse when exposed to pro-life propaganda- 78 %,

Ø      My feelings about my abortion became worse when exposed to information in the mass media about fetal development- 77 %,

After my abortion I felt:

Ø     I felt a need to block out and stifle my feelings 78 %, 

Ø     My attitude towards life became more callused or hardened- 66 %,

Ø     I became more violent when angered 48 %,

Ø     I began to drink more heavily 37 %,

Ø     I described myself as an alcoholic 27% nearly one third were admitted alcoholics.

Ø      I began to use or increased my use of drugs 41 % almost half began to use drugs. 

Ø     I described myself as becoming addicted to drugs 26 % one fourth were admitted drug addicts. 

Ø     Have you attempted suicide since your abortion, 28 %. 

Ø     53 % of those women attempted suicide more than once. 

Ø     Did your relationship with your sexual partner come to an end after the abortion? 66 %. 

Ø     The memory of my abortion faded with time, only 19 %said yes. 

Ø     Finally they were asked: Have you ever regretted having the abortion? 94 % said yes!

 

According to Julie Parton of Focus on the Family’s pregnancy resource ministry, 79% of the women who were considering abortion, that received counseling and an opportunity to see a sonogram of their baby decided not to have the abortion.  79% !  If these resources were available in mass, 25 years ago, 32,785,000 babies would have lived! Instead of the death toll being 41.5 million, it would only be 8.7 million!  And that is even with abortion being legal.  Although I’m sure if there had been 27 million more women opposed to abortion and angry about what they almost did, they could have made abortion illegal by now!  For instance, Only 39,000 women who have had an abortion are members of NARAL, The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League.  Whereas 245,000 women who have had abortions are members of National Right to Life.
