There are many schools like Devry, Gibbs Institute and Chubb that allow students to get their degree in anywhere from one year to two years. There are also many schools that offer online- courses via the Internet.
Almost 30% of all women who have abortions have family incomes of less than 15,000 a year. A small percentage of these women are under the age of eighteen and are still under the guardianship of their parents. However, any woman eighteen years of age and over, that makes less than 15,000 per year will be given a choice between rental assistance of $300 a month or can live in a communal pregnancy dorm. They too will have full medical coverage, daycare, maternity leave relief and college tuition. Imagine if people from low incomes could report that after they had their baby they were able to become a high paid professional whereas they never would have had that opportunity before having a baby! Talk about turning a negative into a positive!
In many cases the woman’s friends, family and partner may not support her decision to keep her baby and may not wish to support her. The vast majority of women who have abortions are not married and they would be raising their baby completely on their own. Because of this, having Christian volunteers who could be a helper and lend emotional support, would be essential. These volunteers could help the new mother with things like grocery shopping and day to day tasks as well as just being someone to lean on, a friend. These volunteers could spend as little or a much time as they like. We would hope that there would be enough people that would be wiling to sacrifice at least one hour of their lives a week to save two lives, the mother and the child. Equally as important as the financial support, the moral support from the Christian community will mend their emotional wounds and fill their most essential need- Jesus. This project is such an amazing opportunity to really minister to people. When you selflessly give of your time to a person in need, you are touching their heart. If a Christian were part of a women’s life on a day to day basis, or even on a weekly basis, they will have a tremendous opportunity to share the Gospel. Because we would be loving them in truth and deed as it says in the bible. They will wonder how you can be so loving and giving to a stranger. Love is the best fertilizer for the seed of truth!
Since the deception of abortion is in the mind, we need to get the information into the minds of young women on a mass scale. We need to meet them where they are. We need to appear in their favorite magazine or on their favorite T.V. program. We could place ads in popular women’s magazines like Cosmopolitan, Vogue, and Teen magazine. These ads will display pictures of babies at all stages of life in utero as well as include quotes from former abortionists, the results from the studies of women who have had abortions and the negative effects caused, as well as the solution for women who are pregnant and need assistance. These ads will plant the idea that there are viable alternatives to abortion. Once a person considers and idea and envisions the possibilities, it is much harder to get the idea out of their mind. Just like the idea that having an abortion is an easy option and the baby isn’t really alive until it’s born, have crept into their minds, the knowledge that it is a human life and that there are enough resources available for them to have the baby will also remain in their minds. If we put a full page ad in the top 5 women’s magazines, every single week, we will be continually reminding and supporting this life-giving information. T.V. commercials on MTV, The women’s entertainment channel and the Life Time network can also be run. In these commercials we can have women speak out who have had abortions as well as women who visited the life center and changed their mind about having an abortion. . These women can talk about the positive changes that occurred in their lives since having their baby, and how they were able to do all of the things that they wanted to do, like going to college, getting a better job, and still live the life that they had always envisioned.
