who will be dedicated to befriending this person.  This volunteer will meet with this the individual as many times as they both desire to.  This will help the individual to have a friend to open up to about their journey of discovery and also to ask them questions about learning who God is.  This bond and relationship will continue on for support after recovery.

Building the new man-  This section is designed to help the individual identify the people, areas and things in their life that either trigger using or are unstable.  This will help them to think long term about changing their very life, not just not abusing drugs.  If they have deep friendships with substance users, they will be advised, not forced ever, to postpone these relationships until they are able to handle them or if at that point they even desire to continue them.  Maybe the area in which they live is a hot zone for drug dealers, or even their own family members are abusers.  These are things that need to identified before going back to life as usual.  Life as usual is what brought them to this point.  So if they need to be relocated, or face their friends and family about not being able to see them for a while, they should handle these things while at the facility so that any emotional back lash can be handled by counselors and friends.

Ongoing support-  The conventional support system for a recovering addict today is to go to a group like AA (Alcoholics Anonymous).  However, because these groups tell you that you are an addict and that you will always be an addict, they are not always the best support for recovery.  This is simply a lie.  The Lord says that he who the Son has set free is free indeed!  God’s word is what they need to be surrounded by. Once their wound is healed and they have hopefully established a relationship with the Lord, they need not revisit the memories of addiction regularly.  Finding a church body would be a far more suitable support system for them.  Because as the Bible says, we need to walk in newness of life.  The wounded drug abuser is their old man, and they need not look back on that unless it is in the light of worshiping the Lord who delivered them from it! The Christian volunteer who has established a bond of friendship can offer their continued friendship and support, as well as connect the individual with a church body.
